The Redemptorist Fathers in the Congo

Our Congolese Redemptorist Fathers are active in Central Congo, which is the axis between Kinshasa and Matadi. To support them in developing social projects, the non-profit organisation De Clemensactie was founded in Ghent in 2012.
One of our pillars is to provide quality education. Thanks mainly to donations from Switzerland, supplemented by a handsome grant from the province of West Flanders, we have been able to build a new nursery and primary school in our parish of Saint-Irénée in Kinshasa.
On 3 September, at the start of the new school year, this magnificent school building was solemnly inaugurated, and the toddlers and pupils are now in beautiful classrooms. We hope the pupils have a good time at school.
